FACELIFT & BROWLIFT
Patients with prominent folds and wrinkles in the face and /or with hanging jawls and neck skin are candidates for this operation. The surgery takes 4-5 hours and is done under local anesthesia. The excess skin is removed and the muscle and tissues of the face and neck are tightened. Fat is removed from under the chin and neck if necessary. incisions are made in front of the ears in the natural skin crease and extended up into the temporal area and down into the area behind the ear/scalp. This may be done in conjunction with a brow lift in which the eyebrows are elevated to a more pleasing position. The incision is usually 1inch behind the temporal hairline. The operation takes an additional hour to complete. It greatly enhances the final result of the facelift. People with drooping eyebrows and upper eyelids are best candidates for this operation. Fine sutures are placed and loose bandage is applied which is removed in 1-2 days. Some discomfort and swelling with bruising is to be expected. Sutures are removed in 5-10 days. Exposure to sunlight is to be avoided for few weeks and sunscreen is advised. Return to work is usually in 10-14 days. Complications are rare but possible and are discussed fully by the doctor in consultation. Our patients are most happy after this surgery since they look very natural and do not have the “mask face” or the “wind tunnel” look that is so commonly seen. BLEPHAROPLASTY
(Cosmetic Eyelid Surgery)
Patients with puffy and sagging eyelids and pouches beneath the eyes are best candidates for this operation. It is usually done under local anesthesia and takes 1-2 hours. Incisions are made in the natural skin folds and creases. The excess skin is removed conservatively and the bulging fat is usually repositioned to correct the groove under the eyes and keep the natural youthful appearance. The fat is rarely excised and fine suture are placed. A limited or comprehensive cheek lift can be added to the surgery which makes the area around the eyes more youthful and rejuvenated. It however makes the eyelid surgery more complicated and recovery hence is more prolonged. Some bruising and swelling occur that subsides in 10-14 days. Sutures are removed in 4-5 days. Return to work is usually in one to two week. Complications are rare and discussed by the doctor.

RHINOPLASTY
Patients with a large unshapely nose or those with prominent humps who want to improve their appearance are candidates for this operation. It can be done under local or general anesthesia and takes 1-2 hours. Incisions are made inside the nose but may be externally placed. A light splint is placed which is removed in 5-7 days. No nasal packing is performed. Minor discomfort is controlled by medication. The swelling and bruising around the eyes disappears in 5-10 days. Return to work is usually in one week. BREAST AUGMENTATION
Women with small breasts who desire to improve their self image are best candidates for this surgery. It is usually done under general anesthesia and takes 1-2 hours. Incisions are made either under the breast or rarely around the areola. A pocket is created under the chest muscle or less frequently under the breast gland, and an implant is placed. A special bra is worn for 3-4 weeks. Minimal swelling and bruising occurs. Associated pain is controlled with medication. Strenuous activity is restricted for 3-4 weeks. Return to work is usually one week. Complications are rare and are discussed during consultation.
BREASTLIFT AND REDUCTION
When breasts are droopy a mastopexy is usually indicated. It involves surgical lifting of the breast using different techniques. At times a breast augmentation is done at the same time when desired.The incisions are made around the areola, in the lower pole or underneath the breasts. Whenthe breast size is too large a breast reduction is done using the breast lift technique.

TUMMY TUCK
Best candidates are patients with large abdominal skin folds that are unsightly and resistant to other forms of treatment. Operation is done under local or general anesthesia and takes 2-3 hours. Incisions are made in the lower abdomen near pubic region, and extended to the hip bones. A second incision is made around the naval. The abdominal skin is lifted and pulled down with the excess skin and fat excised. The muscles may be tightened if necessary. Fat suction of the waist is usually done to optimize the result. A special garment is worn for two week. Walking is encouraged the day of the surgery, but full activity is not begun until one week. Pain is controlled with medication. Complications are rare but are fully discussed in consultation.
LIPOSUCTION
(Facial and Body Contouring)
Fat Suctioning is a procedure in which the unwanted fat cells are removed through tiny incisions. Patients with localized fat deposits are candidates for this operation. It is done under general or local anesthesia and takes 1-3 hours depending on the extent of the areas involved. Special garment is worn for 1-3 weeks. Minimal pain is associated and the swelling and bruising disappears in 2-3 weeks. Ambulation begins on the day of surgery. Return to work is usually in one week. Complications are rare and are discussed in consultation. In select cases addition of laser to liposuction is used whereby stubborn areas such as the male breasts, bra rolls, neck humps and back are treated. This procedure takes longer and is more prone to complications. The rate of skin tightening is slightly more with this technique but except for the areas discussed is usually not necessary.

FAT AUTOTRANSPLANTATION
Patients with facial wrinkles or prominent folds who are not candidates for a face lift benefits from this procedure. Fat is aspirated from the abdomen, buttock, or thigh and injected into the area indicated. Dressing may be applied for a few days. Minimal pain, swelling and bruises are to be expected. Complications are very rare and are pointed out in consultation. There are no allergic reaction to one’s own fat cells which makes it superior other forms of soft tissue augmentation.
